That normally means we get colder and stormier weather in Europe and the East Coast of the U-S.
All the pieces need to come together for blockbuster snow storms along the East Coast. Cold air, an active southern part of the jet stream (preferably phased with the northern Jet) and blocking over Greenland would help, too. A ridge building out west in the Pacific northwest with an amplified trough in the east. These are some of the big ingredients needed for the “big one”…
The foundation is starting to come together for that to happen in Jan-Feb…possibly into March.
